Musing Around the Coop

a

(somewhat of an autobiography, sometimes a how-to guide,
and to the poultry purist,
a how-not-to guide) book

In 1957, Jane Goodall ventured to Kenya.  It is uncertain what her intentions were.  What is certain is that she had no idea that she would become a household name recognized for her efforts to document the behavior of apes.

In 2013, I ventured into a local feed and grain store with fewer expectations but more of an intended purpose than Jane Goodall - I wanted fresh eggs.  I purchased 6 chicks.  Whereas it took Jane decades to dissect and decipher the secret life of this intelligent species, I was able to condense the process down to a year.  In fact, I was amazed at how quickly I was able absorb and chronicle their behavior.  Before moving on to the next adventure, I though only fitting to commit to paper all of the knowledge that I had acquired.

In full disclosure, there are other works on said creature penned by individuals who are more sticklers for facts or science and/or are more credible than I.  An argument can be made that criminal charges should be brought against me for defiling the good name of Jane Goodall, using her as a comparative springboard for my research.  If this be the case, then so be it.  The defense calls its first witness – Gallus domesticus.
